B&B Tech: Full Monte TS-430S

"FULL MONTY" TREATMENT FOR THE TS-430

The Kenwood TS-430S is a pretty good rig and not prone to any particular trouble, with one exception; that being the filter unit relays becoming dirty or oxidized from non-use or cigarette smoke. For either, the fix is the same; R&R (remove and replace) the filter unit, clean the relays with DeOxIt, and make the DC injection mod. We also perform the following:

	Replace the memory battery
	Replace C75, audio output cap
	Check, repl C116, C117 on IF unit if needed (5V Regulator)
	Replace meter lamp if needed
	Lube VFO shaft
	Align RF and IF stages
	60M transmit mod, if needed
	Set final and driver bias per factory spec
	Resolder PLL unit as needed
	Any other minor repairs needed
	R&R Filter Unit, perform DC injection mod
	Filter Unit Option: clean bandpass relays (15 total)*

All this for a Flat Rate of only $179* (major parts and shipping extra).

* If the filter unit relays need cleaning, the Full Monte deal is $199 due to the extra labor involved (there are 15 relays to be cleaned). Some 430s have sealed filter unit relays and do not require the extra cleaning. The sealed relays are black, whereas the unsealed ones have clear, removable covers on them.
